We are excited for the oportunity to now enjoy working with our dogs in the AKC conformation ring and other field & ring sports. I attended and worked shows and even has the chance to handle a few times and can honestly say I became quickly hooked. I have always enjoyed quality time with my dogs so why not give it a try and have some fun. Our children are all now adults and we are looking forward to enjoying our time in life. I am excited to be part of this amazing yet political world to both meet and be with awe-inspiring people.

This is my best friend Nicki Ross...she has a heck of a story and I am going to share it
My dear friend and I have been friends for many years now, she is a HUGE dog lover and has this glow about her when it comes to animals.
Last month Nicki attended the Centre Hall dog show with myself, Butters and Zulee. Nicki found herself in awe and caught what we all know as "the dog show bug"
That following week I took Nicki to Shadyrock School For Dogs with me to handling class and introduced her to my wonderful trainer Linda Burley. Nicki learned for one hour how to handle ....she returned the following week with Butters by herself and had yet another hour with Linda.
This past weekend Nicki and I took Butters to Harrisburg PA to have fun and show dogs. I could see the excitement all over her and asked her if she wanted to go into the ring with Butters. She of course did...
Day one her and Butters took first place in her class....
Nicki was so excited!! Our trainer Linda was also there to see how great she did.
On day 2....Nicki was pulled by another woman to help show a Border Terrier....she took winners bitch. Nicki showed Butters and took 1st in class, winners bitch and Best of breed puppy that had her later enter the hound group ring.
Nicki met so many new friends and even hugged and laughed with dog legend James Moses.
One fun fact about my amazing friend....she does not even own a dog She owns 4 cats
Nicki has a new goal she told me....she will be going to Westminster this year and wants Linda to have her ready by then
YOU ARE AWESOME MY FRIEND!!!!!!!! I <3 U!!!
Torah took first in her class both days in the AKC ring! We are now attending UKC shows with her as well and hope to have a finished Champion by Summer 2013.
I need to take a moment to apologize to "dipshit" in the event no one knows who this is....it has been my nickname for our Torah since she arrived LOL....Reason being she is the giant puppy in our pack....supplicates the others, has propeller tail, yells like a husky caught in a bear trap when she is happy....you know Dipshit like LOL. Torah has always been a good girl never high impact in anything but she does what u ask always... Today upon picking up Voodoo from her home to attend handling class and stay with us until she shows, we had a small accident...Torah and Voodoo only know one another from handling class a few times and drill team and normally I took Frank to handling. Now for the first time she would have to be crated inside the same car with an “unknown” bitch side by side. Upon my attempt to rearrange crates (with dogs inside them) so they would fit in the car, Torah at one point shifted her weight and the Veri kennel fell out the back of the SUV. It shattered and she bolts about 25ft away in fear in a place where she has never been….”Oh GOD Dipshit is now loose” Torah has been through obedience classes since 6 months of age, her recall was perfect upon come she stopped dead turned ran back and sat on my left. I now had a broken kennel and a bitch inside one huge wire crate in the SUV. Okay no choice….Torah hops right in and did not give the bitch a glance after I advised her to leave it! We went to class both girls did great and I must say today I am sorry my faith in dipshit was less than it should have been. Good job Girl! I may just make it through all this after all however; I have every bit of faith she will.
Exhaustion and worry is still in high gear, on a positive note my crate came yesterday and it was in fact the pink one. YAY to eBay sales person bobopets for being awesome and helpful.
My 6 ft lead should be here on time and then all the things ordered will have arrived. My outfits I ordered to handle my mentors dog have arrived and I look like a whale in them but HEY why not?!
I received a call from my mentor that she is unable to attend for she is falling more and more ill with time.
I will now be taking her bitch Voodoo and my own bitch Torah all by myself
This should be interesting to say the least.....UGH! I am grateful I was able to attain a handler for Torah.
Thank YOU! Jackie Short you are a life saver <3...
Only a few more days and it will all be over...now just to be able to sleep prior, my anxiety is at an all time high.
The show is soon approaching and now the nerves are going some. I feel the stress levels starting to raise all though I shouldn’t. …Or should I …..O.o.
It is a scary thought that people go through this feeling ALL the time when you are active in showing dogs. I picture all of these people stressed to the max with their dogs in tow. I have attended many shows now and can say, not one seems as stressed as I am starting to feel. Where do they get their magic nerves? I wonder…All are always pleasant and joyful when you are there however; I know better now. It is pure simple professional class and nothing less.
Where am I in my show days soon approaching? Why should I be stressed?
Let’s see I received Torah’s fur saver collar last week and it fit (YAY!).
I am still awaiting the arrival of the pink crate and the leather show lead. I am praying they arrive on time. My dear friend and handler Anya that was taking my GSD into the ring now will not be arriving until at least 1pm due to her work schedule. I am grateful she is super in what she does…she managed to get me a back up just in case our ring time is early.
My dear friend and mentor whom I am planning on attending the show with is also a very ill elder. She is not doing well at all and I am worried sick about her. There is a huge possibility that she will not be able to attend due to her declining health. I fear she will not make it much longer and she deeply wanted to finish her last GSD prior to anything happening. I will continue to hold my friend in prayer.
So, I will be alone….just me and my dog for the first time ever entering the ring. The thought actual makes me want to vomit. What happens if we advance? What do I do then? Where do I go? How do I know what time to be there? Is someone taking in my dog or am I? Several deep breathes…. More importantly where am I going to find all that class and grace everyone shows up with? How can I remain calm and smiley when the whole time I would rather panic and run in a circle? UGH!
Where am I so far in this endeavor? I have figured out how and managed to register Torah for a show in Butler County, PA for Sept 22nd and 23rd of 2012. I registered in Novice both days. Now to analize the cost to date to show my Torah (I will not count the training cost because I consider that part of what should be spent on my dogs) Registration total $63.90. You will not sleep that first night you do the registration, you will only think about all the fun you will have and "Oh NO! What else do I need?" I awaken from a short nap that should have been a good night sleep and first thing grab coffee and get online for my much need dog show stuff. Fursaver collars, every GSD has one by God so shall mine $17.97. Then of course I own several crates of shapes and sizes however; what I do not own is this perfect sized three door hot pink wire crate made special for my new super show dog no doubt $59.99 with free shipping...almost a steal. Oh I should also mention the new leather leash she has coming to complete her superstar and glamour look $16.96.
I personally refuse to add the total, for now at least the good Lord knows I am nowhere near done so what is the point.
Make a genuine note to self: showing a dog cost some hard earned cash.
My Torah with her lovely working structure may not have a fighting chance out there in the world of more angles but we are surely going to give her the best chance we can and she will look great doing it.
Updates to follow on this new and wondrous adventure....
